It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Colyn Alderman announces his passing. Colyn was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a kind and thoughtful man whose gentle spirit enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Beloved husband of the late Eva Jean Alderman, who predeceased him on January 3, 2023, Colyn’s love for Jean remained an enduring part of his life and inspired much of his later creativity. He was the cherished father of Mark Alderman (Lilly) and Frances Govey, and a proud grandfather to Mathew Alderman, Timothy Govey, Jeremy Govey, and Ryan Alderman.

Colyn was the beloved big brother to Stewart Alderman of Tredegar, Wales, and Janet Bates (Alderman) of Oakdale, Wales, with whom he shared a lifelong bond.

A resident of Gravenhurst, Ontario, since 1988, Colyn was an active and caring member of his community. He volunteered for many years at the Gravenhurst Nursing Home, where his kindness and good humour brought comfort to residents and staff alike.

An avid photographer, Colyn had a keen eye for capturing the simple beauty of everyday life and delighted in many peaceful trips on the water throughout Muskoka.

In the years following the loss of his beloved wife, Colyn turned to poetry as a way to honour his memories and express his heart. In the fall of 2025, he proudly published his first book of poems—a meaningful accomplishment that reflected his strength, love, and enduring hope.

Colyn will be forever remembered for his generous heart, artistic soul, and deep devotion to family and community.

A private family service will be held to celebrate his life and the many treasured memories he leaves behind.
