Claus Petersen
May 21, 1941 - January 21, 2015
Wednesday January 21, 2015
Petersen, Claus
Passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2015 with Ulla, his wife and true love of over 43 years by his side. Beloved father (and father-in-law) of Fay Kruzel (Petersen) and Robert Kruzel.
Born in Hamburg Germany in 1941, Claus showed great promise as a symphony violinist. After immigrating to Canada in 1967, his skills as a Tool and Die maker had him moving up the ranks of his trade. Claus achieved the roll of becoming a General Manager at several successful Canadian manufacturing firms.
In retirement, Claus found time to contribute to the community by volunteering weekly at the Perth chapter of the Daily Bread Food Bank. Claus was happiest at his country home in Lombardy, surrounded by his family, fishing on Big Lake Rideau and playing euchre at the kitchen table.
The family wishes to express their thanks and pay special tribute to the nursing staff at Smiths Falls Hospital, as well as the caregivers and staff of the Peel chapter of CCAC.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, on Friday, January 23rd, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A service in celebration of Claus's life will be held on Friday, January 23rd at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Claus’s life are invited to make a contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society.
