Chung Lun Chow passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., surrounded by her loving family. She was 78.
Born in Kai Ping City, China, Chung Lun was the second of six children. She came to Canada in 1981 through sponsorship of her husband’s cousin Hank (and his family). Settling first in Georgetown, Ontario, and later in Toronto, she worked tirelessly to provide for her family and to help her siblings (and their families) immigrate to Canada.
Although she didn’t have the opportunity for a formal education, she taught herself to read and write and attended English-as-a-Second-Language classes. Her perseverance and dedication exemplified the resilience of first-generation immigrants. She was known for her strong work ethic, her devotion to her children and grandchildren, and her generosity toward relatives and friends.
Ms. Chow expressed her love through food and hospitality. She delighted in preparing traditional dishes and creating a warm, welcoming home. She also cherished caring for children, both within her family and as a nanny, in her later years.
She is survived by her children Tina (John, Jessica, and Justin), Jerry (Linda and JJ), and Ken; her siblings and their families; and many friends who were touched by her kindness.
She will be missed and forever cherished. May Chung Lun’s legacy of strength, care and generosity continue to guide those who knew her and loved her
