With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Charles “Charlie” McPherson on July 12, 2025, at Oshawa Hospital, with his loving sisters Sue and Maryanne by his side.
Born on July 19, 1958, Charlie was the third of eight children and the eldest son—a role he embraced with pride. Even from a young age, he took his “big brother” responsibilities seriously, always looking out for his siblings with a protective and loving heart.
Charlie found his dream job in his twenties as a milkman, a role he cherished. Later, he joined Laird and Sons, where he worked as a furnace technician and was welcomed like family.
Throughout his life, Charlie faced many challenges with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and quiet bravery. His resilience was matched by a deep kindness and a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He had an infectious laugh and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—reading his Bible and the Globe and Mail, playing his favourite lotto numbers, listening to Elvis and Kenny Rogers, and enjoying regular coffees at Timmie’s.
Charlie will be deeply missed by his siblings: Sue Vandittelli (Joe), Maryanne Leishman (Bob), John McPherson (Lorenzo), David McPherson, and Paula McAuliffe (Ken); as well as by his cherished niece and nephews: Kristina, Josh, and Phillip. He is lovingly remembered by his cousins and extended family.
He was predeceased by his beloved sisters Elizabeth McPherson and Maureen Saunders (Mark), his niece Amy Saunders, and his mother Maureen McPherson. Charlie is survived by his father, Robert McPherson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers and support teams who enriched Charlie’s life and helped him live with dignity, comfort, and joy.
