Charles Robertson Thomson passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Belmont House in Toronto. He was 94 years old.

Charlie was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Agnes and Peter. He was one of 4 children. He shared his youth with his siblings Anne, Bert and Peter.

In 1953 Charlie immigrated to Canada to begin his new life. He was joined by his wife Mary, his true love, and his children Charles and Vivien. They settled in Montreal and Charlie went on to work for Canadian Copper Refineries as an electrician. He raised his family and his life was full of good friends and good times.
After retirement Charlie and Mary moved to Mississauga to be near their children and grandchildren.

Charlie was an athlete and for years was a passionate soccer player and Rangers supporter. At one point he joined his son Charles on the same Montreal soccer team and articles were written about them. He was an avid golfer and played many rounds with his much loved son-in-law Les. He spent his life enjoying music and dance. He went on to become a very skilled ballroom dancer with his wife Mary.

Charlie was a true family man and lived for his children. He was so proud of being a grandfather of ten (Rick, Darrin, Elana, Robert, Donna, Noah, Jesse, Zoe, Tyler and Madison!) and great grandfather of 8. His family brought him such happiness and pleasure.

For the past 12 years Charlie has taken a journey with Alzheimer's and through those years he stayed a very positive and happy man. He never stopped smiling or chatting up a pretty girl. And when the words stopped he used those big, blue eyes to catch everyone's attention. He spent the last 7 years on 2W at Belmont House. In his final years at Belmont House he was known by all for his dance moves and his wonderful voice. He brought smiles to everyone on the unit. He was surrounded by love and truly exceptional care. We will be forever grateful to all of the staff.

Charlie is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mary. He leaves behind his son Charles, daughter in law Phyllis, his daughter Vivien, son in law Les and adoring grandchildren.

Our father was a gentle, kind and loving man with a wicked sense of humour. He will be forever loved and missed.
And in his honour we hold up a fine cup of Grouse and give his favourite toast, "Here is to your health, and here is to your blood, and if your blood is good and your health is good, here's to your bloody good health" Happy travels dad!
