Cecil Albert Anthony Moore, of North York, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, at home surrounded by his family, at the age of 95. Beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, brother, and friend, Cecil has touched the lives of countless people across the world and will be greatly missed.
Born on November 1, 1929 in Bartica, Guyana, to parents Robert and Ernestine. Cecil proudly represented British Guyana in the 1952 Summer Olympics in weightlifting, competing as the country's sole representative. His strength, determination, and work ethic extended beyond his athletic career; contributing to his success as a public servant with the Canada Border Services Agency, until his retirement in 1992.
Cecil A.A. Moore was known for his kind, generous, and gentle nature. He was deeply dedicated to his family, and worked hard to provide new opportunities for his children and grandchildren in Canada. But he never forgot where he came from and ensured he remained connected with his friends and family across the globe. He was known for his sense of humor, positivity, and cheerful laughter that would make his shoulders rise and fall with each heartfelt chuckle.
