<div itemprop="description">Peacefully passed away at her home on June 10, 2011 after a lengthy illness.Beloved wife of the late Ascher Shapiro. Beautiful and loving mother to Scott Larke, Leslie Waters, Jennifer Bast and her son-in-law Ron Waters. Adored by her grandchildren Rob, Jennifer, Kyle, Lauren, Jessica and Jordan. Born in Toronto in 1926, she became well known in the beauty industry during the 70's when she worked for Air Canada and Elizabeth Arden. She moved to Boston in 1980 and considered both cities her home. In 2007 she returned to Toronto to be closer to her children and grandchildren. We have all been inspired by her unwavering optimism, and the dignity and grace she displayed while dealing with a rare neurological disease known as Corticobasal Degeneration. She will be remembered for her stunning looks, her sense of humour, her beautiful spirit and her generosity to others. For the past 4 years she has been in the loving and exceptional care of Shirley, Lourdes, Luz, Remie and her overnight caregivers. Special thanks to Dr. Smart for his compassion; and to Ruth, and the other nurses and staffwho made such a difference to the dignity and quality of her life at the Bradgate. A celebration of Kay's life will take place at MOUNT PLEASANT CEMETERY VISITATION CENTRE, 375 Mount Pleasant Road (east gate entrance), Toronto, 416-485-5572 on Sunday, June 19 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Armyor Toronto Western Hospital&nbsp;- Movement Disorder Foundation.</div>
