Carole Mae Williams
July 11, 1934 - March 2, 2016
On March 2, 2016, we lost our Mom, Carole Mae Williams (nee Pepper). In her 82nd year, she died with a peaceful heart and no fear or worries. Surrounded at the end by true angels of this earth, the staff and volunteers at Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill, which was our Mom’s home for her final 4 weeks. We, her two children, where there with her also.
Her last weeks were filled with visits from dear friends and family. Friends. They meant everything to our Mom. Friends from days long-gone, right through to friends made in her last months and days.
It would be important to our Mom that you know this. If you were her friend, you were very important, and you meant the world to her. She thought of you often, and spoke of you equally as often. Sharing your stories with us, making us feel as if we knew you as well as she did. Thank you, each of you for enriching our Mom’s life. We are proud to say, we know that she enriched yours as well. Friendship is a gift that she received from each of you, with great appreciation. She also gave that that gift, with an open heart. Special thanks to Dr. Brenda Whitney, also a true friend.
Carole is the last of her generation of her family. Predeceased by her father and mother, Harry and Vera (Ingle) Pepper, as well as her brother Gordon Pepper, and her sister Ruth Summers. Also gone is Mom’s first husband (our Dad), Melvin Williams. Mom’s many nieces and nephews, from both Gordon and Ruth, have been a constant source of joy and memories. She will be fondly remembered by her second husband Gerry Meharg and his children Brian and Lorie.
She was always proud of us, her son and daughter, Gord and Heather, but her absolute greatest pride was saved for her 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Christina and Mark DaCosta, and Jordan Williams.
When she learned of her diagnosis with cancer, she didn't let it slow her for too long. She immediately turned her attention to how to make sure that others, family and friends, we're ok. She didn’t want people to be sad or upset. She wanted those around her to know that she was at peace, and comfortable. Always upbeat and positive, there were trips still being planned and meals still to be shared. There were calls to and from friends still wanted, but there were no words left unsaid, there were no regrets for Carole. Mom, we wish we could have one more moment, one more hug. One more, "I love you Mom".
Carole, our Mom, knows how we all feel, and knows how much we will miss her. But she really did not want us to be sad. So please join us in celebrating her life. Celebration is what she would want. In lieu of flowers, Mom has asked that you consider making a donation to Hill House Hospice, 36 Wright Street, Richmond Hill, or a charity of your choice. Celebration to take place at Elgin Mills Visitation Centre, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East at 1:30pm Saturday March 19th
