Passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health Systems in Owen Sound, ON on Monday May 26, 2025, in his 82nd year. By Gin (“Neen”) Sit was born on February 16, 1943 in Foshan, China. He immigrated to Canada in 1958 and spent most of his life working at and eventually owning (1967) the family restaurant, the Ritz Café, from which he retired in 2005. The Ritz was the first Chinese cuisine restaurant in Owen Sound providing services for over two generations (75 years of business). Beloved husband of Helen Sit of Owen Sound. Loving father of Stephen, Melinda and Michael. Gin will also be missed by his nephews and niece Russell, Michael and Mary and many cousins and family friends. Predeceased by his daughter Frances Sit, parents Gim Woo Sit and Wai Ching Wong, and by his sister Lai Fong Chan. A memorial service to honour and celebrate Gin’s life will be held at the York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York (Toronto), (416) 221-3404 on Tuesday June 10, 2025. A visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm, followed by a private family service. Interment will take place at the York Cemetery following the service. As expressions of sympathy, flowers may be sent to the Funeral Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name to the Brightshores Health Systems Owen Sound Foundation, or a charity of your choosing, would be appreciated by the family.
