Bowman passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 28, 2025. He is lovingly remembered by his dedicated wife Lai Ying, his family, and his surviving friends.
Predeceased by his first wife, Virginia, Bowman was the beloved father of Gordon (Mary), Helen (Andy), Bob (Dianna), and Frank (Berenice). He was a caring stepfather to James (Anne) and the cherished “Goong Goong” of Christina (Melvin), Kerri (Brad), Jenna (Andrew), and Chanel and Jacqueline.
Bowman was born in Taishan, China, and moved to Canada as a young man, where he enjoyed a long career at Litton Systems and raised his family with Virginia. He was an intelligent, gentle man who ensured his children also excelled in professional careers and made the most of their lives.
He mastered Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi, enjoyed and competed in ballroom dancing, and earned numerous awards in recognition of his skill and dedication. Bowman proved himself a talented natural artist, excelling at woodcarving, photography, and many forms of painting including Chinese brush painting.
In his last years of good health he and Lai Ying greatly enjoyed international travel and time spent with the families.
Bowman will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Dorothy Ley Hospice Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
