Phuong Vu has sadly passed away on November 6, 2025 after a long year of battling cancer. She is survived by her husband, Sang, and her two sons, Dennis and David. Phuong was born on September 3, 1968, in Vietnam. She lived through the Vietnam war and left with her older sister, Thuy, in 1989. At the refugee camp in Hong Kong, she met her Husband, Sang Quang Liu. After residing in a refugee camp in the Philippines and giving birth to her first son, Dennis, she began her life in Canada in 1995, and welcomed her second son, David.

From 1995 to 2024, Phuong worked relentlessly to help provide for a life for her family. From working as a waitress, restaurant manager, food stall owner and machine operator, she always applied herself to whatever work she had and was great at it. She never forgot to help and treat those around her with kindness, honesty, humility and compassion. Above all, she was the best of mothers, having raised two sons who grow on to continue to spread kindness, honesty and compassion in their respective fields.

Her battle with cancer left her unable to continue her work but it didn’t stop her from living her life. She was surrounded by her family and friends, who loved her dearly. We all did what we could to make each day better than the last. She loved parties, travelling and music. She made sure that wasn’t taken from her.

Phuong’s visitation and funeral service will be on November 15th, 2025 from 1pm to 3pm at Elgan Mills Cemetery and Funeral centre. She has asked for no additional flowers to be purchased for her nor any monetary contributions to her family. If anything, she would like any money collected in a donation box to be given towards cancer research at Sunnybrook Hospital and Vietnam Relief and aid, which will be handled by her children.
