VASILIKI "BESSIE" MAVROMIHELAKIS (née ZISIS)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Vasiliki "Bessie" Mavromihelakis (née Zisis) on the morning of August 5, 2026, in Toronto, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in 1934, in Kaminia, Lakonia, Greece, to Iosif and Paraskevi Zisis, Bessie immigrated to Canada with her brother Nick in 1957. After becoming engaged in Greece, she married the love of her life, Anthony Mavromihelakis, in 1958, and together they built a beautiful life and family in Toronto. Anthony predeceased her in September 2020.

A devoted wife, mother, Yiayia, and Great-Yiayia, Bessie leaves behind her beloved children Patricia (Ilias) Konidis, John, Perry (Nick) Kalogiannis, and Nehtario (Lisa). She will be forever cherished by her grandchildren Maria (Demetrios), Tonya (Boris), Stacey Vasiliki (James), Daniel (Meagan), Alexander, Peter (Hannah), and Damian, and by her adored great-grandchildren Kanella Vasiliki, Alexander, Christopher, and Christos.

Bessie was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings Vangelis, Georgios, Yiannis, Maria, Nikos.

She will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering devotion to her family, generous spirit, and joyful sense of humour. She found her greatest happiness gathered around the table with those she loved, sharing home-cooked meals, especially her beloved dolmades and loukoumades. Though she worked tirelessly throughout her life in various roles, her greatest life's work was creating a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and kindness.

A devoted Greek Orthodox Christian, Bessie leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, treasured family traditions, recipes that will continue to nourish generations, and countless beautiful memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
