<div itemprop="description">Beatriz Gomes, 82, of Abrantes, Portugal passed away peacefully on January 16, 2016 at Humber River Regional Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. <br /> <br />Beatriz was born in Abrantes, Portugal to Nuno and Maria da Piedade Farinha on June 29, 1933. Her love for sewing led her to become a seamstress at a very young age to help support her family. Her mother widowed at the age of 32 with 6 children and one still on the way. Beatriz married Dionel Bernardo Gomes in September 1968 and moved to Toronto the following February 1969. She visited Portugal every summer until the last few years when she become ill. <br /> <br />Beatriz is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Olga and Maria da Graca as well as her husband Dionel. She is survived by her daughter Bernardette (Vito) Menchise of Brampton and two grandchildren Bailey (17) and Ethan (13) Menchise.</div>
