Barbara Dorothy Huddart (née Morgan) passed away peacefully at Leacock Care Centre in Orillia, surrounded by her family, on January 17, 2026, at the age of 88. In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, a Celebration of Life is being held on Monday June 8, 2026 from 11:30 to 1:30 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Cemetery, Hickory Room. (375 Mount Pleasant Rd | Toronto ON M4T 2V8). After the ceremony, there will be time to visit, eat, and reminisce.
Born in Toronto in 1937, Barbara grew up in East York and graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto, with a BA in psychology in 1958. A gifted athlete, she competed in multiple intercollegiate sports and earned a silver “T.” She later completed a master’s degree in psychology.
Barbara married J. David Huddart in 1960, and together they raised their four children in Etobicoke while enjoying summers of travel, family adventure, and later, cottage life. For four decades, Barbara was a psychoeducational consultant with the Toronto Board of Education, where her work with children affected her deeply and reflected her empathy and care for others.
She is survived by her children Steven, Margot (Douglas) Sutherland, Christopher J., and Patrice (Edward) Hornibrook, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her loving husband David in 2013. Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, curiosity, and strength. Her greatest joys were spending time with children, family and friends, reading, games, and doing crosswords—preferably in a hammock.
