Elle n'est pas morte seule: sa mère, Angèle Baksh (née Serré), son beau-père, Jamal Baksh, sa sœur aînée, Sabrina et sa grand-mère, Alice St-Onge étaient tous avec elle. Son frère Marcus, 9 ans, et sa sœur cadette, Bianka, 3 ans, ont une amour profonde pour elle. <br> <br>Athena n'avait que 18 ans. Elle adorait voyager, chanter, le théâtre et être entourée de gens. Elle était studieuse et une fière élève de l'École secondaire catholique Mgr-de-Charbonnel. Une fière francophone, elle planifiait poursuivre ses études en français à Glendon afin d'obtenir un Baccalauréat Bilingue Internationale et par la suite devenir avocate. <br> <br>Sa mort est une tragédie et son message simplement qu'il doit y avoir plus d'amour dans le monde. Alors soyez gentils envers l'un et l'autre, ayez de la bienveillance pour les autres et n'hésitez pas de montrer votre amour. <br> <br>Si vous désirez faire des dons à une charité, nous suggérons Doctors Without Borders. <br> <br>Athena Serré-Barkey passed away on May 23, 2013 at The North York General Hospital. She did not die alone: her mother, Angèle Baksh (née Serré), her step-father, Jamal Baksh, her older sister, Sabrina, and her grand-mother, Alice St-Onge were by her side. She is profoundly loved by her younger siblings, Marcus, 9 yrs, and Bianka, 3 yrs. <br> <br>Athena was only 18 years old. Generous and gregarious in spirit, she loved to travel, sing, and go to the theatre. She was very studious and a proud student at École secondaire catholique Mgr-de-Charbonnel. A proud francophone, she planned on pursuing her studies in French at Glendon University and obtain a Bilingual International Baccalaureat, followed by a law degree and becoming a lawyer. <br> <br>Her death is a tragedy that exemplifies the need for more love in the world. Her message is simple: Be nice to each other, be benevolent, and never hesitate to show your love to others. <br> <br>For those wanting to make a donation in her name, we suggest Doctors Without Borders.</div>
