It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Arvids Paeglis on March 7, 2026, at the age of 97. Arvids was born in Daugavpils Latvia on March 6, 1929, and immigrated to Canada on his own in April 1948 at the age of 19. He settled in Toronto to start a new life which led him to marry Mirdza (predeceased 1974), start a family and have a long career with Bell Canada. In 1978, he remarried and enjoyed 43 years together with Rasma (predeceased 2022).

He is survived by his daughters, Benita and Diana (Allan); sister, Dagmara Jamieson; cousin, John Purins (Karen); nephews, Marc and Justin Jamieson and their families; John Alksnis (Sharon and daughters, Laura and Inara), as well as relatives in Latvia. Arvids will be remembered as a hardworking man with a good sense of humour, quick wit, sharp mind and enduring strength and perseverance.

Services for Arvids' memory will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at York Funeral Centre.
