It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Anna Ioannidis, at the age of 83, on February 25, 2025.
Anna was the heart and foundation of her family — a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love knew no limits. She leaves behind her cherished husband of 66 years, Vassilios, with whom she built a lifetime rooted in devotion, partnership, and joy.
Born in Greece, Anna carried her heritage with immense pride. She embodied the strength, resilience, and deep-rooted family values of her homeland. Through her, Greek traditions were not simply remembered — they were lived. From the preparation of cherished family recipes, to the celebration of faith and name days, she ensured that her children and grandchildren remained deeply connected to their roots. Her stories of Greece, her unwavering faith, and her commitment to family created a legacy that will endure for generations.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two surviving children, Jim (Debbie) and Margaret (Nick). She is also reunited in peace with her beloved son Athanasios, who predeceased her. Anna’s joy multiplied through her six grandchildren — Patricia (Alex), Tom (Magdalena), Jordan (Cassandra), Ellis (Julia), Cianna (Cullen), and Thaya (Michael) — each of whom she adored beyond measure. Her legacy continues through her two treasured great-grandchildren, Rafi and Niko, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
To her family, she was more than “Yiayia.” She was their rock, their trusted counselor, and their constant source of comfort. She was the familiar voice they called on their way home, the warm kitchen filled with the aroma of lovingly prepared Greek dishes, and the laughter that brightened every gathering. Anna would dance with anyone who would take her hand — her spirit vibrant, joyful, and full of life. Her wisdom came straight from the heart, and her advice was always offered with unwavering love.
Anna’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Yet her love, her traditions, and her strength will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hospital for Sick Children https://www.sickkidsfoundation.com/ a cause close to Anna’s heart. She cherished children deeply and held a profound compassion for their well-being.
May her memory be eternal.
