Sandrasegarampillai Annalingam, 63, beloved Husband, Father of 2, and Grandfather of 2, died at Rough Valley Health System Centenary hospital on October 30th, 2012 at 4:10 pm.
Sandran was born on May 28th, 1949 to Kanagasabai (father) and Mylvaganam (mother) in Jaffna, Sri Lanka within the township of Kolumbu.
Sandran was the oldest in a large family of 8 brothers and sisters, all of whom he truly cherished and who respected and loved him back even more as their eldest brother. From oldest to youngest of his siblings: Anandarajah, Saratha (who passed a couple of years back due ot cancer), Sri (who passed away at a young age), Rathi, Bavany, Punniyan and Karan.
As a child Sandran, grew up in a household with so little income that they lived in a home made of straw and mud. Although he wasn't as book smart as other kids growing up, he had the street smarts, kind demeanour, and patience to excel in business. When he grew and became head manager of an aluminium manufacturing company in Sri Lanka, he took the helm as head of his household and helped improve the social well being of his family immensely. He was a selfless man beyond measure - not many would be willing to go to the extent he has for his parents, siblings, wife, children and friends without expecting anything in return.
Like so many other Tamil Sri Lankan's during the 80s, he left behind everything and moved his family to Canada as refugees back in 1984 to find a better life away from war back home. He also sponsored most of his siblings and brought them to Canada. In addition, he brought over both his wife's brother and sister and her family to Canada to ensure everyone close to him could lead a proper life in Canada.
In Canada, he worked multiple factory jobs in the 80s but by the early 90s he started getting back into his business mindset to so that his family's quality of life would improve. He loved his wife dearly, his children were his life and he made countless sacrifices for his family and extended family - for that he will never be forgotten. He is one of the most highly respected individuals within the family and within his broad social circle. He will be missed and remembered by many.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Santhasoruby; eldest child, his son Anojan; his only daughter Thanuja married to Ananthkumar with a son and daughter of their own - his grand kids, Oviyan and Aishwica.
