It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother Anna Tocco (nee Mascetta) on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto.
Anna was born in Palena, Chieti, Italy on May 17, 1943 and in 1964 married Giovanni (predeceased August 3, 2010).
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Mari (Carmine Raponi), Luigi (predeceased), Marco (Kali), Tony (Patrizia) and granddaughters Violet and Sienna. Anna was a dear sister to Filomena (Mariano) Celio, Gaetano (Tina) Mascetta, Teresa (Edward) Tocco, Giovanna Mascetta, Tony (Carmela) Mascetta and Frank (Lorraine) Mascetta.
Mom was a deeply loving and devoted mother whose children were the center of her world and the greatest joy of her life. Her love was constant, selfless, and felt in everything she did. She had a special way of caring for people, often through her cooking. Her amazing lasagna and pizza were more than just meals - they were her way of bringing the family together and filling the home with warmth, laughter, and comfort.
Anna’s passion in life was her cooking, and later in her career she mastered English cuisine with many years working at Nick’s Deli on the Danforth and Feathers Pub on Kingston Rd. She was always taking pride in her work and the people she served.
Outside of work, Anna enjoyed life’s simple pleasures - her daily Tim Hortons coffee and watching an episode of Judge Judy were among her favorite routines. If mom was not in the kitchen, she could always be found with a hammer, screwdriver or her favourite tool a steak knife where she would let us know “Don’t call the man - I fix everything with this” – and she did.
Her warmth, strength, and loving spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. She will be profoundly missed by her children, family, and all whose lives she touched. Though she is no longer with us, her love, her lessons, and the memories she gave us will live on in our hearts forever.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone at Michael Garron Hospital. Their passion and care for our mom was exemplary the whole way through.
We invite family and friends to join us at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm with a reception to follow from 1pm to 3pm.
A private entombment will follow later in the day for her children only.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
