Andrew Wilson Wallace
March 8, 1929 – April 19, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew (Andy) Wilson Wallace on Saturday, April 19th at 3:45 p.m. at the great age of 85. Born on March 8th, 1929 in Glasgow, Scotland; served in the British Royal Navy; served his apprenticeship as a Heating & Ventilating technician. Immigrated to Canada in 1969 and after working with the North York Public Library System found his true calling – as a condominium expert; founded his own company Browell & Wallace then Wallace-McBain & Associates, one of the larger independently owned condominium management companies. He mentored many people in this field; taught Condominium Law at Humber College; Past President of ACMO; Retired from active Management and became a Court Appointed Administrator for many of the GTA condominiums until December 2013. Proud member of the 78th Fraser Highlanders as a snare and tenor drummer.
Andy was surrounded by his loving wife Winifred (Freda) Wallace and their two daughters Janine Rivard and Lorraine Beirness with their husbands Bob Rivard and Dave Beirness, as well as his Granddaughter Kelsey Symington. He will be sadly missed by all of his Grandchildren, Kevin Symington and Liz Gamba; Kelsey Symington and her Fiancé Adam Ruane; Genevieve Rivard-Gilbert and her husband Bryan Gilbert and his Great Granddaughter, Avalon Rivard and the late Vanessa Robyn Rivard.
Thanks to all family members and friends who visited and to those who sent good wishes during this brief illness that ended so suddenly and sadly. Thank you also to the nursing staff and Doctors (all the ‘loves and mates’) at the Lakeridge Health Oshawa. He always said that he had been well taken care of and couldn’t ask for better service.
“You were someone special
Who can never be replaced
Your memories in our lives
Can never be erased
Time cannot steal the memories
We carry in in our hearts
Or take away the happy years
Of which you were a part
Those we loved don’t go away
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed
Still always near.”
Friends will be received at a Memorial Reception at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre located at 1057 Brock Road, Pickering, Ontario, L1W 3T7 from 10:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. on Sunday April 27th 2014. There will be no church service.
Donations to your favourite charity of ‘choice’ in Andy’s name are welcome.
