Andrew Douglas Walker
September 3, 1943 - May 25, 2015
Walker: Andrew Douglas September 3, 1943 – May 25, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce Doug’s passing after a ten year battle with cancer at the age of 71 at Baycrest Hospital. Beloved husband and best friend of Eunice. He is survived by his mother Phyllis in Scotland, sister Barbara (Kevin) and predeceased by brother Gavin and sister Marion (Norman). Fondly remembered by nephews Alistair, Scott, Douglas, Ian, Neil and Paul. Doug was Past Master of York Lodge AF & AM No. 156 where this year he was presented with the Perfect Ashlar Award. He was a member of the 32nd Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, The Orient Chapter Royal Arch Masons No. 79 and the Square and Compass Club. His kindness and thoughtfulness will be remembered by all who met him through his volunteer work at Sunnybrook Hospital in the MI Wheelchairs and the Odette Cancer Peer Support. Doug was nominated to receive the Ontario Volunteer Service Award this year for his devotion to helping others. He was also a volunteer with the Canadian Blood Services. We wish to thank the team at the Temmy Latner Centre of Mount Sinai Hospital for their support and assistance in the past five months and also the caring and loving environment at Baycrest Palliative Care Unit during Doug’s final days. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Doug’s life will be held in the Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre (375 Mt. Pleasant Rd., east gate entrance north of St Clair Ave.) on Saturday June 13, 2015 between 2 and 4:30 P.M., with a Masonic Service at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunnybrook Hospital, Baycrest Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
A life will lived but too short
