It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Allan Richard Hill on August 26, 2024 at the age of 75, after a long brave battle with multiple myeloma. Beloved husband of Suzanne Hill (nee Lee), beloved son of the late Arthur Hill and the late Vera Hill (nee Perkins), survived by two sisters, Sonja Connolly and Dina Hill (Alrick Hughes), brother-in-law Leonard Lee (May), and many nieces and nephews. Allan will also be missed by many cousins and friends throughout Canada and the USA.
Although Allan graduated from Ryerson University's Architecture program, he has had many very different career ventures during his lifetime, but he enjoyed for the longest period of time his work as a self-employed consultant in Food Safety and Quality Control Management. He thrived on its challenges and its travels.
Allan was passionate about travelling, golfing, and cruising. One of his goals in life was to "travel as much as he can, to visit as many places as he can, while he can do it". He was an avid and speedy reader of books and everything on the internet, especially articles about places to visit. When not travelling, he loved researching and planning his next adventures away from home. He was very organized. He did all the bookings and made all the arrangements. He even printed the itineraries, which included, of course golfing wherever and whenever possible, visits to botanical gardens, ancient castles and trips to amazing sites often with prebooked entrance tickets. He celebrated his 70th birthday in Saint Petersburg, Russia's cultural capital!
Allan's other passion was designing and implementing improvements to his home and garden in Toronto. Even after his diagnosis in the spring of 2021, he continued working on all his projects for the house, completing the last section of the retaining walls and terraces for his garden, although only on a supervisory capacity. He rarely sat still, except when he was sitting in front of a canvass surrounded by his brushes and many tubes of colourful oil paints.
Illness was the only obstruction to his source of energy to accomplish all his dreams.
Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Life is being planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to a charity of your choice or to Multiple Myeloma research.
