Allan Charles Green
May 4, 1923 – October 30, 2015
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather Allan C Green on Friday October 30, 2015.
Dad will be lovingly remembered by daughters Deborah (Dave), Joanne (Tom), grandchildren Vanessa (Craig), Melanie (Kevin) and Chad, and great-grandchildren Jesse, Brooklyn, Logan, Kaylee, Kaitlynn, and Evan. Dad was predeceased by our mom, Margaret.
Al grew up and lived in Toronto for much of his life, until recently moving to Huntsville to be closer to his daughter, Joanne. In his early life, he enlisted in the RCAF and then went on to a career with Bell Canada, always proud to say he worked there for 47 years. He was always looking for his next home repair project and he stayed very busy in our early family years having such interests as wood working, cultivating beautiful roses, collecting beer bottles, photography, curling and winemaking, but most of all he was fondly known as Mr. Fix It, as he could repair anything from clocks, to electronics, to building a stereo sound system. Summers during these times were spent making memories with family at a cottage on Lake Cecebe. Fishing, swimming and playing cards were always top on his list. In later years he and mom loved to take car travel trips, always sharing their wonderful memories of places visited. He especially enjoyed the historical aspect of these trips.
Most of all, many memories were made for dad with the Air Force Association. The many people he met there became lifelong friends, a testament to his kindness and thoughtfulness. He was involved for many years organizing and participating in related events, and everyone looked forward to his monthly newsletter. Dad was also known for playing the best music at the many dances he and mom attended. Dad also maintained his many friendships after retiring from the Bell, and regularly attended the retirees’ monthly luncheons to chat about work and to up on all the news. He will be missed by all the friends whose lives he touched.
Dad led a wonderful life and we hold close to our hearts the special memories of him.
