Ali Behroozian, a devoted advocate for freedom, justice, and human dignity, passed away after a lifetime of principled activism and service to others. He was born on June 22, 1959, and from an early age showed a deep commitment to learning, critical thinking, and standing up against oppression.
Ali was an avid reader, writer, and translator who believed strongly in the power of ideas and truth. As a young man, he became involved with Iran’s democratic resistance movement and chose to dedicate his life to speaking out against dictatorship and human rights abuses in Iran.
At the age of 19, Ali left Iran to continue his studies in India, hoping one day to return and serve his country. Instead, his growing involvement in human rights and political activism led him into a life of exile—one he accepted with courage so he could be a voice for those who could not speak freely.
While living in Hyderabad, India, Ali was deeply involved in political and human rights activities. He participated in demonstrations, public education efforts, and awareness campaigns, and wrote extensively about the situation in Iran. Over the years, he authored more than 150 articles focused on freedom, justice, and the rights of political prisoners. He was also a skilled translator, helping bring important stories of suffering and resistance to a wider audience.
Ali believed firmly in standing clearly on the side of democracy and human dignity. Despite facing hardship, financial difficulty, and personal risk, he never wavered from his principles. He often said, “Respect to those who stay true to their principles and remain loyal to their commitments.”
After settling in Canada, Ali continued his activism with the same dedication. Even during serious illness, including long hospital stays and dialysis treatments, he remained engaged with current events and committed to the causes he believed in. He attended rallies, spoke at public events, and continued writing and supporting others whenever his health allowed.
Ali Behroozian’s life was marked by resilience, integrity, and compassion. For more than 45 years, he remained steadfast in his belief in freedom and justice, carrying himself with quiet strength, kindness, and determination.
Ali is survived by his beloved wife, Shahnaz, who stood by him throughout his life and struggles. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him as a principled writer, activist, and defender of human dignity.
His memory, values, and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he inspired.
