Albert James Cavan
Sep 20, 1925 - Aug 6, 2014
Passed away peacefully at the Trillium Health Centre with his devoted wife, Jo-Ann and his wonderful sister, Eva, by his side. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jo-Ann, her loved daughters, Brandi (Scott), Jodi (Chris) and from a previous marriage his much loved children, Susan, Janet (Dave), Bob (Christine), Lynn and Michael (Jillian). He was so happy and proud to be a grandfather to Davis and Kate, Sam and Oliver, Brian and Cory, Sarah and Austin. He adored his niece, Abby, whom he always said was special because she is. His sister, Eva was a very important and much loved person in his life as was his sister, Maureen (Doug) and brother, Bill. Very special to Albert were his cousins Mina and Bill Nelson and Maggie Smith. He was predeceased by his parents,
Bart and Josey. He was a people person and was loved by his many friends. Albert led an active life. He was a lawyer and Queen’s Counsel at Risk Cavan, President of Vulcan Industries, a founding member of the Markland Woods Golf Club, Chairman of the Board at the Queensway Hospital and during the amalgamation with the Mississauga Hospital and Counsellor of Guatamala. Al and Jo-Ann spent many happy times at his wonderful cottage, in Haliburton, with its guest caboose. It was the place he loved most in the world. They also wintered in Ajijic, Mexico. Albert’s warm heart and big smile will be forever missed. His basic philosophy was don’t complain, treat everyone the same and look on the bright side of life. He had kind words and a compliment for everyone. Dear Albert, you will always be in the hearts of those who loved you. A veteran has passed. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Trillium Health Centre for their wonderful care. Also, much appreciation to the staff at Cawthra Gardens. Donations may be made to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation. A celebration of life will be held on September 20, 2014, at 25 Earlington Ave. Etobicoke, ON at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
