Yum Shing Siu passed away on June 1, 2025 in Toronto at his nursing home. He was born on February 8, 1947 to Hok Chow Siu and Siu Har Lee in China. The family moved to Macao when he was about 2. He attended Pui Ching elementary school and Yuet Wah middle school in Macao, and he finished his high school at Lingnan Middle School. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Chu Hai College in Hong Kong and an accounting diploma from George Brown College in Toronto, Canada.
After his studies in Canada, he returned to Hong Kong and worked in accounting until his retirement. He moved to Toronto in 2013 after the death of his beloved parents, to whom he was a caregiver.
He loved stamp collecting and history. He was a devoted Christian and was baptized at Causeway Baptist Church in Hong Kong.
He is survived by his brothers Yum Tong, Yum Kuen and Yum Keung, and by his sisters Chung Ping and Chung Wah. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews whom he loved enormously.
The family would like to thank the nursing home staff for their tender care of and compassion for Yum Shing spanning more than a decade.
Family and friends are invited to attend the service at the chapel of the York Cemetery and Funeral Center (160 Beecroft Road, North York, ON M2N 5Z5) on Friday June 20 at 10 AM with visitation 1 hour prior. The interment will be immediately after, followed by a reception at Legend Chinese Restaurant (7289 Yonge Street, Unit 8 & 9, Thornhill, Ontario L3T 5W2).
