It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Yuk Cheong Lam, who passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, at the age of 93, at Yee Hong Hospice.

Yuk Cheong was a loving father to Elsie, Hannah, and Eugene, and a devoted grandfather to Maggie Lam. He was a cherished member of his family whose warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born in China, Yuk Cheong moved to Hong Kong at the age of thirteen, where he was raised and later built a successful career in the garment industry. Through his work and throughout his life, he had the opportunity to travel extensively and experience many different countries and cultures.

He held a special fondness for Saudi Arabia, a place he visited frequently and came to appreciate deeply for its culture and people. He often recalled with great pleasure being welcomed as a special guest and served a whole roasted lamb—an unforgettable experience that he enjoyed retelling to family and friends.

Travel was one of Yuk Cheong’s greatest passions. He loved discovering new places, learning about different cultures, and, above all, experiencing the food each country had to offer. He was always eager to try something new and delighted in sharing the stories and memories from his travels with those around him.

Yuk Cheong was a warm, kind, and approachable man with a remarkable ability to connect with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, young or old, and always seemed to have another story to tell or a topic to discuss. He genuinely enjoyed the company of others, and his cheerful nature made conversations with him both comfortable and memorable.

Those who knew him will remember his friendliness, his curiosity about the world, his wonderful stories, and his ability to make people feel welcome. His life was enriched by the many people he met, the places he visited, and the experiences he shared with those he loved.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, the stories he shared, the kindness he showed, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in eternal peace.
