Yue Dan Kwan Ngao, 91, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on April 9, 2026, after a long, fulfilling life surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 20, 1935, in Bak Hap, Hoi Ping, China. She made the life-changing decision to follow her beloved husband (Wah Yun Ngao) and daughters in 1969 to leave Hong Kong and build a new life in Montreal and eventually settled in Toronto.

She showered her family with lots of love, happiness, care and a safe environment. She loved to sew and knit for her children and grandchildren. Her favourite passion was her homegrown vegetable garden which included huge Chinese winter melons, cherry tomatoes, green beans and anything that caught her eye. She had a green thumb and adored her plants, often fondly saying “My little friends are growing”.

Her legacy is carried on by her five daughters: Diane (Augustin), Sue (Jacques), Cindy (Charlie), Jane (Allan) and Lana (Warren). She will be deeply and sadly missed by her eight grandchildren, who affectionally called her “Popo”: Owen (Misha), Justine (David), Matthew (Misha), Victoria (Richie), Andrew, Alexander, Janelle and Lauryn and her three great-grandchildren: Kate, Ella and Dustin.

Her memory will live on and be cherished through her family, whose lives have been shaped by her caring love, selflessness and dedication. We will miss her dearly and she will forever be in our hearts.

A memorial Service to celebrate Yue Dan’s life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 12:30 to 1:15pm (visitation) and 1:15 to 2:00pm (funeral) at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres 1591 Elgin Mills Rd East, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9.
