With heavy hearts but unwavering faith, we announce that Wu-Shin Lin was called home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2025, after courageously battling cancer. He passed peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, who find comfort in knowing he is now healed and resting in the arms of Jesus.
Wu-Shin Lin was born on January 4th, 1940 in Gangshan, Taiwan. In 1975, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada with his family. He lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. He faced every challenge, including his illness, with grace, strength and complete trust in God. Even in his hardest moments, he continued to encourage those around him with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering belief in God’s goodness.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, always placing the needs of others before his own. His greatest joys were fishing, travelling, singing and spending time with his family, and he led them with love, integrity, and faith. Though cancer took his earthly body, it never took his spirit—his faith remained strong until the very end.
Wu-Shin Lin is now reunited in Heaven with family and friends that have passed and are already with the Lord. He is survived by his wife Fu-Mei, sons — Simon (Janice), Kirk (Tohko) and Gary (Helen), and his grandchildren — Teddy, Jonathan, Karen, Sharon (Gabriel), Timothy and Cheryl, who will forever cherish his memory and continue his legacy of love and faith.
Wu-Shin Lin was deeply devoted to serving others through medical mission trips. Over his lifetime, he participated in more than 20 mission trips to remote areas with little access to water, electricity, or transportation—including the Amazon rainforest, Paraguay Jungle, across Central and South America, as well as Africa. His life was a testament to faith, love, and selfless service, sharing God’s love wherever he went. Any monetary gifts received will be donated to support future medical mission trips. Donations can also be made to Sunnybrook Hospital in memory of Wu-Shin Lin using the "make a donation" link below.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 14th where we will honour the remarkable man he was and the eternal hope we have in Christ. Visitation will begin at 10AM following a memorial service at 11AM. Reception to follow.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Though we grieve, we do so with the assurance that we will see him again in God’s eternal kingdom.
