It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Woon-Oi Seto, who left us on February 3, 2026.
Born in China, Woon-Oi immigrated to Canada in 1969, beginning a new life with courage and determination. She first settled in Chicoutimi, and later built her life in Quebec City, where she helped manage the family restaurant, DinHow. Despite language barriers and the challenges of starting over in a new country, she worked tirelessly to create a future for her family.
Woon-Oi was the devoted wife of Kowk Chew Seto, and a loving mother to four children: Peter, William, Caroline (Shawn Maddaford) and Dawson. She was also a proud grandmother to Declan Maddaford.
She will be remembered for always doing what was best for her children. Through long hours and hard work, she raised her four children with care, strength, and unwavering dedication.
In her later years, Woon-Oi continued to do so with the same quiet perseverance. She found joy in doing simple things to stay close to her family, especially loved hosting family dinners and camping together. She also enjoyed travelling, stayed active in her community, and even embraced learning English.
Woon-Oi will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on through the lives she shaped with her love, resilience, and lifelong devotion to her family.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
