In Loving Memory of
Wen Biao Liu 刘文彪
November 1, 1962 – July 18, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Wen Biao Liu 刘文彪 on July 18, 2026, in Ontario, Canada, at the age of 63.
Born in Hebei, China, on November 1, 1962, Wen Biao was a devoted husband to Hong Lei and a loving father of Tiange “Tianna” Liu and Yiwei Shen. He will be remembered for his strength, sincerity, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Wen Biao graduated from Shandong University with a degree in Chinese Literature, and fulfilled a career in Beijing as journalist and editor at China Sports Daily. His work reflected his lifelong love of adventure, sports, and the outdoors.
In his youth, he was an intellectual and also a consummate sportsman. As a journalist, he climbed with China's national mountaineering team on expeditions. He summited highest peaks in North America - Mount McKinley and South America - Aconcagua, as well as many mountains in Asia. He wrote a novel that drew inspiration from his mountain climbing experience. He also spent three full months hiking the length of the Great Wall of China. That was Wenbiao: brave, unwilling to settle, always reaching for something further.
In 1996, at 34, Wen Biao came to Canada, leaving behind an established career to begin life again in a new and unfamiliar country. He arrived with almost no knowledge of English and began again his education and career in a different field. Through courage, determination, and perseverance, he rebuilt his life and established a successful career as a Network Administrator at CDS Global, now known as KCK Global, where he worked with dedication until retiring at the age of 58.
Retirement marked the beginning of another meaningful chapter of his life. He devoted himself fully to his family and home, cherishing every moment spent with those he loved. He was a deeply responsible husband and father who always placed his wife's wishes before his own and made the happiness and well-being of his daughters his highest priority. No matter what challenges life placed before him, he never complained. Instead, he quietly carried every burden himself, always asking what he could do to make life easier for the people he loved.
Wen Biao embraced life with confidence, pride, and an adventurous spirit. He loved golf, fishing, travelling, gardening, carpentry, and spending time in nature. The outdoors was where he truly came alive. Beneath his strong and confident exterior was a very gentle and kind heart. He faced every chapter of life with courage, optimism, and resilience, never allowing hardship to define who he was.
Wen Biao was a person with very high standards for himself. He had no patience for pretense or convention, and never once compromised what he believed in just to fit in. He knew himself and had confidence in his beliefs. But through the years of his life in Canada, especially in his battle with lung cancer, he learned patience and acceptance. He bravely faced his own mortality and came out the other side fully recovered and with a deep appreciation for his life.
He strove to be productive and to care for his family every day: he cooked most meals for his family and undertook many woodworking projects for his house. But he also had a deep love for the serenity and relaxation of home. He loved to spend his time tending the house and the garden which he took great care for.
As his health and physical condition were improving more and more after recovery from cancer, the outdoors again became a great joy. Even until the moment of his death, he had a zest for life. His death was a great accident and tragedy, but Wen Biao understood and appreciated his mortality. To him, every day was a great gift. He would not want us to mourn for his death but to celebrate the life he had.
Wen Biao's legacy is the love and security he gave to his family. He was our strength, our protector, and the person we could always depend on. Although his passing was sudden and far too soon, the love he gave us will remain with us for the rest of our lives.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
