Waldemar Hanulak, 70, died peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Waldemar was born on March 2, 1956 in Szczebrzeszyn, Poland to Janina Borowinska and Jan Hanulak. In Poland, Waldemar studied and worked in the field of precision mechanics, focussing on camera repair. In 1987 he immigrated to Canada, after spending 10 months in Greece with Anna and Rafal. He worked as a dump truck driver and truck driver for 17 years before retiring in 2021.
He loved photography and travel, had a knack for carpentry and home renovations, and his breakfasts and barbecues were “the best in town.” He was an engaging storyteller and a gracious host. He deeply loved his grandchildren and could often be found cheering them on from the sidelines. He will be missed for his kind eyes, infectious laugh, and warm hugs.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Hanulak; son Rafal (Mary Anne) Czarnecki; and grandchildren Hannah and Alicia. He will also be missed by his sister Iza and her children Olivia, Gregorz and Kasia.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janina and father, Jan.
Waldemar will be remembered for his ingenuity, hard work, joy and the love he had for his friends and family.
We love you Dziadzia and we will miss listening to all of your stories.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at St. Eugene Church at 10am.
