Vinod Kumar Sachdeva passed away peacefully in Toronto, Canada on August 29, 2026 at the age of 74.

Vinod was the beloved husband of 48 years to Smt. Kiran Sachdeva and the loving son of the late Harbans Lal and Kaushalya Sachdeva of New Delhi, India. He was a loving father to Shailesh and Tarun Sachdeva, father-in-law to Niloo and Diandra, and "Dadu" to granddaughters Jade and Laila.

Vinod was born in New Delhi, India and studied law at the University of Delhi before joining the Indian Foreign Service in 1977. During more than 35 years of service, he represented India in diplomatic missions in Vietnam, Denmark, Malawi, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Brazil and Canada, where he would eventually make his home and spend his retirement years.

He was devoted to the service of his country, his community, his family and the many friends he made along the way. Vinod nurtured lifelong relationships and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on September 6, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at Elgin Mills Funeral Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Final prayers will be held the same day at 1:00 p.m. at Gursikh Sabha Canada in Scarborough, Ontario. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Michael's Hospital Foundation, whose staff cared deeply for Vinod in his final years.
