Sun Yip O’Young

It is with deep love and admiration that we celebrate the life of Sun Yip O’Young, who passed away peacefully in East York, Ontario, at the remarkable age of 103. Sun Yip prided himself on his physical fitness which he maintained into his 90s, and his artistic ability expressed through beautifully written calligraphy.

Sun Yip was Born in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China. He shared over 80 beautiful years of marriage with his wife, Sook Huen O’Young. Together, they built a legacy of family, generosity, and resilience that will shine through for generations.

Sun Yip was the cherished father of the late Jim (Pat); Sue Jong (the late Basil); Kayo (Diane); Leoung (Florence); and Nora (Kevin). He was the beloved grandfather of Riad, Samira, Lilli (Trevor); Amy (JT); Lisa (Jason); Cindy (Stephan); Jason (Adeline); Colin (Lisa); Olivia (Rob); and Keenan (Natalie), and the adored great-grandfather of Nathan, Hannah, Meghan, Grace, Lex, Isabel, Sophie, Natalie, Weston, Maizelyn, Hazel, Coral, Henry, Addison, and Evelyn.

His stories, his memories, and the life he shared with his wife Sook Huen will live on in the hearts of his family. We take comfort in knowing they are now together again.
