It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Simeon Marcev, who passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 83.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Dore; his daughters, Christine (George) and Katherine; and his four grandchildren, Romanos, Stefan, Andreas and Liliana; as well as his extended family and dear friends.

Simeon was a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud grandfather. He deeply loved his wife of 57 years, was always there to love and support his daughters, and cherished his four grandchildren. His family meant everything to him and he took great pride in the life they shared together.

A proud professional mechanical engineer, Simeon built a distinguished career that included work on major hospital projects throughout Ontario and airport projects in Europe. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in his profession and in providing for his family.

He also had a deep love of music and played the accordion for many years. He was an active member of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, where he served as choir master for many years. A strong and faithful Orthodox Christian, his life was grounded in his love for the Lord, his family and the traditional values he held dear.

More than 30 years ago, Simeon suffered a major stroke that profoundly changed his life but it never diminished his joyful spirit. He loved sharing stories and memories, especially with his grandchildren, and his laughter brought warmth and happiness to many family gatherings. From that time onward, his devoted wife remained faithfully by his side, caring for him with unwavering love and devotion. In his final days, he was surrounded by his family, with his wife never leaving his side.

The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses, physicians and medical staff of the Surgical Unit on the fourth floor and the Intensive Care Unit at Scarborough Grace Hospital for the professionalism, compassion and kindness shown to Simeon and our family during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Simeon’s memory to the hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
