In memory of

Sherry Lynn Oko-Hutton

October 12, 1961 - September 8, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sherry Lynn Oko-Hutton, who passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, at the age of 63.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 12, 1961, Sherry eventually made Ontario her home, residing in Oshawa. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will stay with those who knew and loved her.

Sherry was married to her husband, Brian, for 35 years, and they would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this October. Together, they built a life and a family that meant everything to her.
She was the devoted mother of Carley Hutton and stepmother to Diana Hutton, and a proud grandmother to Avery, Finnick, Callan, Breanna, and PJ. She was especially excited to be a grandmother again with the recent arrival of her newest grandson, Callan, just two weeks before her passing.

Anyone who knew Sherry knew that she was, in a word, stubborn. Even when she was wrong, she would very rarely admit it, and somehow, she could make you laugh about it anyway. But beneath that stubbornness was a woman who loved fiercely. When Sherry loved you, she loved you completely, and she would do anything for the people who mattered to her.
She was the person you could call when you needed to vent. She wouldn't just listen, she'd jump right in, take your side, and happily talk some crap with you, unless of course she had opposing opinions, then you had better been ready for a heated debate!

Sherry also showed her love through food. Every Christmas, she made the best perogies, her Thanksgiving stuffing was legendary, and her chocolate chip cookies had a special touch that no one has ever quite been able to replicate. Those recipes may be remembered, but the memories of making and eating them with her will be even more treasured. And then there was Sherry's language. She loved a good swear word, and the word f-ck remained firmly in her vocabulary right until the very end. True to herself, Sherry went out cursing just like she lived.

Sherry was the youngest of five siblings, lovingly remembered alongside Sharon, Dale, Shirley, and Wayne. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family and the many friends whose lives she touched over the years.

She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was strong-willed, outspoken, loving, funny, and unapologetically herself.

While her absence leaves an enormous hole in the lives of those who loved her, Sherry will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter she left behind, the recipes we try (and fail) to recreate, and in every person she loved fiercely.

She will be missed more than words can say, and remembered exactly as she was.
