It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sher-Yuan Chau, of Vaughan, on August 14, 2026, at the age of 44.

He was the cherished son of Muoi Lam and the late Lac Chau, and a beloved brother to Richard and Diana and loving uncle to Nathan, Emma and Mason. He was also a dear friend to many and will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Sher-Yuan was affectionately known as “Zyu Zyu” (Piggy), a childhood nickname lovingly given to him because of the little snorting sounds he made in his sleep. What began as a playful childhood nickname became a name filled with love and fond memories—a reflection of his kind and caring personality that made him so special to those who knew him.

To know Sher-Yuan was to know someone with an immense passion for life and had a wonderfully sharp sense of humour. He embraced the things he loved with enthusiasm, curiosity, and genuine excitement. Whether he was learning how to soup up his car, DJing at small gatherings, or playing sports, he approached everything with a bright smile and a joy that was uniquely his own.

At just 18 years old, Sher-Yuan was involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and significant physical and cognitive challenges. For the 26 years that followed, he was lovingly cared for by his devoted parents, whose unwavering love, strength, and dedication became a constant source of comfort and support throughout his life.

Although the accident changed the course of Sher-Yuan’s life, it never changed how deeply he was loved. His life was filled with moments of laughter, connection, and love, and he continued to bring joy to those around him in his own special way.

He will be remembered for his playful and spirited personality, and the many memories he created with his family and friends. His presence brought something special to the lives of those who knew him, and his memory will remain close to their hearts.

Sher-Yuan will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.

May he rest peacefully, surrounded by the love that was with him throughout his life.
