Sandra Angela McTurk passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 8, 1953, in Georgetown, Guyana, Sandra was the daughter of Angela Goberdhan and the late Roy Goberdhan. She was the loving wife of Desmond McTurk for 53 years. Her life was a reflection of grace, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Known for her warm heart, nurturing spirit, and sense of humor, Sandra found joy in spending time with her family. Sandra’s laughter was infectious, and she had a unique ability to bring light and joy to everyone she encountered.
Sandra was always ready to offer a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on, often being the first-person others turned to for comfort and support. Her generosity knew no bounds; she had a natural ability to make others feel valued and appreciated, going out of her way to ensure that everyone around her felt loved. No matter what challenges she faced, Sandra always maintained a hopeful and optimistic outlook on life. Her positive attitude was contagious, inspiring those around her to remain hopeful and resilient. Sandra's ability to see the silver lining in every situation was a source of strength and encouragement for her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory: the love of her life, Desmond McTurk; devoted and loving daughter, Amanda McTurk-Brown (Clive); mother, Angela Goberdhan; two granddaughters, Chantell Duckett (Kavonte) and Kaila Brown; two great-grandsons, Micah and Brayden; brother, Neil Goberdhan (Wendy); two sisters, Sharon Pollard (Samuel) and Ingrid Khemraj (Kumar); Her amazing and loving brother and sister in-laws, several nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
A shining example of kindness and generosity, Sandra’s presence made the world a better place. Her love, laughter, and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
