Sally Luong of Toronto, ON, Canada, passed away on June 19, 2024, at the age of 32.
Born on February 18, 1992, in Toronto, Sally was the beloved daughter of Chi Yan Tsui and Hao Luong, and cherished sister to her brother Alex Luong. Sally's love extended to her two cats, Boom-Boom and Shatterstar, who brought her joy and companionship.
Sally pursued her academic interests at University College London (UCL), where she earned both a Masters in English Linguistics and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literature. With her linguistics background, Sally brought a unique perspective to her career in Information Technology as a Software Developer. She used her expertise to innovate and create, by integrating linguistic principles into her projects with creativity and precision.
Sally was a life long learner and a polymath, engaging in a wide array of interests and accomplishments throughout her life. She built websites that combined functionality with aesthetic flair, ran Monte Carlo simulations, produced musicals and crafted theatrical sets that brought stories to life. Sally's literary acumen was evident in her insightful literary criticism and work, showcasing her deep understanding of language and expression.
Beyond her professional and creative pursuits, Sally found joy in various hobbies. An avid gamer, she found solace and excitement in video games such as Ragnarok, Destiny 2, Pillars of Eternity, and many many more. She enjoyed the physical challenge of bouldering, the creativity of crocheting, the artistry of cooking (and eating), the escape of reading books/manga, and love/anger of watching anime & hockey. Her diverse interests enriched her life and connected her with so many others who shared her passions.
Sally will be deeply missed by her family and her incredible amount of friends. Her kind spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering generosity touched the lives of everyone she met.
A memorial service will be held at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd E, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9, on July 6th, 2024. Visitation will take place from 1:00-1:30PM, followed by a Chapel Service from 1:30-2:30PM, inviting
loved ones to gather, reminisce, and celebrate Sally's life.

Sally's vibrant presence and the multitude of ways she enriched the lives of those around her will be cherished forever and never forgotten.
