With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roy Higgins, who was born on May 24, 1949, in St. Ann, Jamaica, and peacefully entered eternal rest on July 24, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m.

Roy courageously battled dementia for several years. As the disease progressed, it became increasingly difficult for his family to provide the specialized care he required. With love and compassion, the difficult decision was made for Roy to reside in a long-term care home, where he spent the last three years of his life. A few months after his 76th birthday, it turned for the worst, ended up getting pneumonia, septic and a few other complications. So in his final days, he was cared for at Centenary Hospital, where he ended up passed away.

Roy was predeceased by his parents, Ivy and Claude Higgins. He leaves behind his beloved sisters, Valerie Higgins, who resides in St. Ann, Jamaica, and Eileen Higgins, who now lives in England.

He was a proud father to Terry Higgins and Natalie Higgins, and lovingly embraced Rosalie Morgan, Sheila’s daughter, as his own. He was also a proud stepfather to Sheila’s sons, Philip Rose and Averal Allen.

He is also survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of 25 years, Sheila Higgins.

On behalf of our entire family, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Sheila. Caring for someone living with dementia is one of life’s greatest challenges, endless patience, strength, and unconditional love. Through every difficult day, Sheila stood by Roy’s side, caring for him with unwavering prayer and compassion. Thank you for loving him so completely until his very last breath.

As we gather to celebrate Roy’s life, we will honour him the way he would have wanted—with music.

Music was woven into Roy’s soul from a very young age. A gifted musician, he could play several instruments and had a beautiful singing voice. Music was his passion, his joy, and one of the many ways he connected with those around him. Then he met Sheila, and together they became two “hot steppers,” dancing through life side by side. Their loved started when they were attending the Church of God of Prophecy years ago then ended up serving their faith in this very church the Dominion Miracle Center.

Roy will be remembered as a kind, generous, and compassionate man who never hesitated to help others. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and love for family and friends touched the lives of many. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and music will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
