Robert E. Gardiner (Bob)
January 27, 1947 – May 1, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Elmer Gardiner (Bob) on May 1, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on January 27, 1947, Bob immigrated to Canada with his family in 1974, first settling in Montreal before making his home in Toronto in 1982. He built a life defined by dedication to his family, generosity of spirit, and deep connections within his community.

Bob was the beloved husband of Lauraine Gardiner, whose partnership and love were at the heart of his life. He was a devoted father to Stephen Gardiner (Valerie McGrath), Andrew Gardiner (Nidia Morgado), Sarah Louise Gardiner (Steph Wells), and Neil Gardiner. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Renée, Keira, Quinn, Liam, and Kieran, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Known for his kind and generous heart, Bob will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was a cherished member of Scarborough Golf Club and a passionate participant in the uilleann piping community. Through his love of music, he formed lasting friendships across Canada, Ireland and the United States.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at his visitation on May 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Pine Hills Cemetery (625 Birchmount Rd., Toronto, M1K 1R1). A funeral service will be held on May 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church (3 Combermere Drive, Toronto, M3A 2W4), followed by a Celebration of Life from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Scarboro Golf and Country Club (321 Scarborough Golf Club Road, Toronto, M1J 3H2).
