With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Richard Sai Mui Foo, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and cherished member of our family. Richard passed away on August 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 10, 1947 in Singapore, Richard grew up to be a man of great character, warmth, and dedication. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years (Maureen Yiy Bui Foo) and two children: Helen Hai Loon Foo and Daniel Seck Kum (Susan) Foo as well as 5 grandsons. He consistently provided a steady and guiding presence while offering encouragement, wisdom, and unconditional love. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and was always their biggest cheerleader, teacher and guide.
Richard found joy in the simple beauty of life, especially through his love of gardening. His garden was his sanctuary—where he nurtured every plant with patience and care, creating a space that reflected his spirit. The flowers and greenery, along with the fruits and vegetables he tended so lovingly reflected his warmth and devotion.
He will be remembered for his integrity, empathy, generosity, and the quiet grace with which he moved through the world. His legacy lives on in his family and in the countless lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish to further express sympathy kindly consider a memorial donation to The Pancreatic Cancer North America (https://give.pancreaticcancercanada.ca/fundraiser/helenhailoonfoo/in-honour-of-richard-sai-mui-foo) or Kidney Foundation of Canada (https://kidney.akaraisin.com/ui/generaldonation/donations/start).
