The family of Richard Allen are deeply saddened to announce Richard’s passing at Sunnybrook Hospital on Oct 1, 2024 following his courageous battle with cancer.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 33 years Patricia, his first wife Valerie, and their three daughters Julie (Patrick), Faye (Kent) and Amy. Forever in the hearts of his grandchildren Jack, Jake, Jess, Tyson, Max and Maggie, nephew Kenny, great-grandchildren Elliot and Beckham, and Richard’s late brother’s (John) children Claire and Young John.
Richard moved to Toronto, Canada with his young family from England in 1974 for the Canadian adventure and a fresh start. First as a jack of all trades, then opening the famous Mr. Meat Pie shop, but finally landing firmly on his feet in the film industry where he truly belonged. His love of family and friends in Canada and England was evident to all who heard his stories, jokes, and songs. Often more than once. Or twice. His passion for fishing and unwavering support of the Queens Park Rangers F.C. was inspiring.
At the wishes of Richard a private service will be held for immediate family. Giving heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital for their incredible care and support of Richard and his family. If desired, donations can be made to Sunnybrook Hospital palliative unit.
The family invites everyone who loved Richard to come and celebrate his life on Sunday October 20 from 2-5pm at the Leaside pub.
The event will be a happy gathering to share memories, stories, jokes, and raise a Sunday afternoon pint to a life very well lived. Cheers Matey!
