Raymund “Butch” Cedric Deang Bernardez, age 62, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Providence Healthcare following a courageous, year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on July 26, 1964, in Quezon City, Philippines, to Cedric Bernardez and Ann Deang, Raymund attended Claret School and San Beda University, later continuing his education at Seneca College. He began his career as a medical representative for Unilab Inc. in the Philippines before immigrating to Canada, where he dedicated 31 years as a respected Head Caretaker with the Toronto Catholic District School Board.

Raymund will be remembered for his steadfast kindness, boundless generosity, infectious enthusiasm for life, and deep devotion to his family. He found immense joy on the golf course, tending to his garden, filling his days with music and creating lasting memories with those he loved.

He was the beloved husband of Amelia for 37 years; loving father of Abigail (Adam); and proud grandfather of Luna and Levi. Dear brother of Christl, Nitz, Cheng, Malou, and Hazel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cedric and Ann.

Visitations will be held on September 17 and 18, 2026 from 4 pm - 8 pm at Pine Hills Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on September 19, 2026 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scarborough Health Network Foundation or Providence Healthcare.
