Priscilla Juliana Gomes, born on January 27, 1942, in Bantwal, Mangalore, to Natalia and Francis D’Souza, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, in Mississauga, Ontario.

When Priscilla was only 12 years old, she moved to Bombay (Mumbai, India) to further her education and pursue her career. She became an accomplished stenographer and secretary.

On September 22, 1963, she married the love of her life, Xavier Gomes. Together, they built a home and family grounded in love and faith in the Lord.

Priscilla was a devoted mother to her nine children: Dennis Gomes (Bibiana, Vanessa, and Tracey Gomes); the late John Gomes (Jenyvea Fernandes, Pearl, and Melissa Gomes); Josefina Fernandes (Jeff Powell); the late Agnelo Gomes; the late Natalia Gomes; Elizabeth Shetty (Vishwanath and Tejas Shetty); Angela D’Costa (Lowrenzo, Jessica, and Trisha D’Costa); the late Elvis Gomes; and Elvira Singh (Riya [and Roque D’Costa] and Tanya Singh).

Priscilla spent most of her life as a homemaker and was known for her endless generosity, kindness, and love for her community. She touched the lives of everyone she met. No one ever left her presence hungry or unaided. She was renowned for her cooking, and anyone who had the privilege of eating her food will tell you that nothing compares.

In January of 1997, Priscilla moved to Canada. She spent her years here surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Over the years, she helped her children immigrate to Canada, supporting them as they began new chapters and worked to build better lives for themselves and their families.

Priscilla was a jolly soul who loved to laugh, have fun, and be silly with those around her. She loved taking funny pictures, playing games, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her joyful spirit brought light and laughter wherever she went.

We mourn the loss of her warmth, her touch, and her presence, but we are eternally grateful for the privilege of knowing her, loving her, and being loved by her. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
