It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Preston George Holden. Preston passed away peacefully at Michael Garron Hospital on July 27, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Preston was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dianne Holden. He leaves behind a loving family: his son, James and his wife, Carrie, and their sons, Carson and Nathan; his daughter, Shannon and her husband, Rob, and their sons, Daniel, Connor, and Aiden. He is also survived by his sister, Judy, and her husband, George, and his brother, Glen, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Preston was a hardworking man. His kindness and easygoing nature made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.
A lifelong sports fan, Preston rarely missed cheering on his beloved Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and life's simple pleasures—a good laugh, good company, and making the most of every moment. Those who knew him will remember his warm heart, calm presence, and appreciation for life.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Michael Garron Hospital. Their compassion, kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication provided comfort not only to Preston but also to his family during his final days.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Preston’s life at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, on Tuesday, August 4. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by a few words in his honour before the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
