It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Rowena Welch announces her passing on September 8, 2026 in Toronto. Born on October 23,1930 she was the daughter of the late David and Ruby (London) Middleton.
Phyllis loved to cook, bake, make pickles and garden. She also had a passion and a talent for sewing. Phyllis enjoyed road trips and camping, especially if this happened in New Brunswick with her big, beautiful family. As a “Nan” for many years she eagerly supported sports and educational endeavours with her son, daughter and grandchildren. She also enjoyed “teatime” visits with friends, family and neighbours.
Phyllis was an active member of the Rouge Hills Senior Club for many years where she had fun joining her friends on many bus trips and other social events. Phyllis always had a smile and a laugh for those she cared about. Her love, laughter and kindness will live on in those she held close to her heart.
She is survived by her children Chris (Ingrid) Welch and Susan (Wolf) Endlicher; grandchildren Anna Endlicher, Richard Endlicher, Jake Welch and Scott Welch; sisters Shirley Patterson, Judy Thompson and Gail (Clayton) Tucker; as well as many nieces and nephews. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy Welch; son Richard Welch; sisters Florence and Helen; brothers Wendell and Reginald.
To all the staff at Abbeylawn Retirement Home, a heartfelt thank you for all the wonderful care you provided.
An interment with the immediate family will take place in Pine Hills Cemetery on September 19 at 2 p.m. and the family asks that loved ones light a candle in memory of Phyllis at this time. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
