It is with sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Peter Poon at the age of 89.

Peter was born in Guangzhou, China, on November 9,1936. He later made his home in Hong Kong, where he lived with his beloved wife, Kit Yung Poon, their son, Barry Poon, and daughter, Lisa Poon. In 1974, Peter and his family immigrated to Canada, where he continued to build a life centred on faith, family, and hard work.

Peter overcame difficult obstacles as a new immigrant while devoted to taking care of his family. He worked as an architectural draftsman, using what he has learned over the years, going beyond his education and training, to build a better life for his family. We are very proud of what he has achieved through his dedication and perseverance.

In his younger years, Peter enjoyed playing basketball and remained active throughout his life. In later years, he found great enjoyment and health benefits from regular swimming, as well as coffee time at Tim Hortons and music which became a cherished part of his routine.

Peter was a devoted Christian whose faith guided his life. His family and friends will remember him for his kindness, gentle spirit and unwavering character.

Peter endured through his health issues with quiet strength during the months before his passing. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kit Yung Poon; his two adult children: Barry and Lisa; his grandchildren Jadelyn, Kaitlyn and Darren; and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in our faith and in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Peter's life was a blessing to all who knew him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Visitation will be held on June 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family members and friends have been invited to attend.
