It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, papou and spiritual Father; Fr. Panagiotes Carras. He peacefully passed away into eternal life at home surrounded by his family in the early morning of August 14, 2026.

Fr. Panagiotes is survived by his beloved wife Presvytera Roberta, his children Daniel and Mark (Sharon), his grandchildren Olivia and Claire, his siblings Athena (Jimmy) and James (Alicia) along with many relatives in the United States and Greece.
Fr. Panagiotes was predeceased by his parents Dimitrios and Maria Carras, his brother George, his mother in law Helen, and his sister-in-laws, Hope and Eleanor.

He was born on April 28, 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts to Greek immigrant parents and was the eldest of four. Upon finishing high school he attended the Holy Cross Seminary in Brookline while he was also a Sunday School Director at the Syrian Orthodox Church.
He met the love of his life Presvytera Roberta or as he called her, “Ro” and they married in September of 1963. They embarked on an adventurous honeymoon ending in Thessaloniki where they lived for two years while Father Panagiotes completed his doctorate of Theology.

In 1965, upon his return to Boston, Fr. Panagiotes was ordained a priest. In 1966, he was sent to Toronto, where he eventually opened St. Nektarios now known as The Mother of God of Proussa (Panayia). Through the guidance of St.Nektarios and the support of his devoted parishioners, the Church grew and they were able to open the larger church, St. Nektarios

Throughout his life, Fr. Panagiotes shared many wonderful experiences with his beautiful wife Presvytera Roberta and the family they raised together. He had many fond memories of visiting family in Boston and Greece, pilgrimages to the Holy Lands and later on in life travelling with his wife and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, gardening, reading, planning his next trip and learning the next innovate technology advancements. He was passionate about teaching and was especially known for his memorable sermons.

We all have cherished memories of Fr. Panagiotes and his gentle and kind spirit. His strong faith, love for the church, compassionate nature and patience has guided us for over 60 years in his priesthood. His life was one of service, humility and unwavering commitment to the Orthodox faith, the church and his family. It can’t go unsaid that the church became his family and the love he had for all his parishioners was steadfast.

May his unconditional love continue to guide us and his memory be eternal.
