Paul McEwan passed away on January 13, 2025, in Switzerland, where he had resided in Vevey during the latter years of his life.
Born and raised in Toronto’s Cabbagetown, Paul began his career as a Toronto police officer, dedicating himself to public service. Later, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, successfully opening and operating a Harvey's restaurant in Guelph. For 30 years, Paul managed the businesses with dedication and hard work, leaving a lasting impression on the community he served.
Paul will be missed by his wife Anita Haesaerts and his children Jada McEwan and Derrick McEwan. “Opa” is lovingly remembered by grandchildren Madison, Katheryn, Hana and Quinn. Beloved brother to, David and Susan and predeceased by siblings Eliza, Bill, Louis, and Jenny.
Paul was a generous man, who held his family close to his heart. A true adventurer, he loved boating, flying, travel and skiing. He cherished time spent at the family cottage in Georgian Bay and held dear memories of time spent in the Parry Sound area in his youth.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd, Toronto, M4T 2V8. A funeral will take place the following day, February 1, at 1:00pm in the chapel at Toronto Necropolis, 200 Winchester St, Toronto, M4X 1B7.
